Comeback canceled: Seahawks ditch plan to sign veteran RB Joe Mixon after failed physical
So much for Joe Mixon’s NFL return.
After bringing the 30-year-old running back in for a workout, the Seattle Seahawks decided not to sign Mixon to their practice squad after his physical, multiple reports said early Tuesday.
Instead, the reigning Super Bowl champions plan to sign Robert Henry Jr. off the Washington Commanders' practice squad.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS THROW JOE MIXON ANOTHER CHANCE IN THE NFL FOLLOWING BACKFIELD DISASTER
Seattle needs backfield depth despite a 30-23 Week 4 win over the Chargers to reach 3-1.
Rookie Jadarian Price is on IR with a chest injury, and Zach Charbonnet is recovering from a torn ACL (though his 21-day practice window opened Thursday).
Emanuel Wilson shined against L.A. with 120 total yards and two touchdowns, but head coach Mike Macdonald still needs insurance.

Failing his physical is a massive red flag. Mixon missed all of 2025 recovering from a severe foot injury, wiping out momentum from his 1,000-yard, 11-touchdown Pro Bowl season with Houston in 2024.
In seven seasons with Cincinnati, he won the 2018 AFC rushing title (1,168 yards) and earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2021 during their Super Bowl LVI run. He backed that up in 2024 with Houston with his second Pro Bowl selection.
Now, after missing all of 2025 and seeing his Seattle deal fall apart before it started, Mixon's path back to an NFL roster looks tougher than ever.
