Bills cornerback dismisses Efton Chism's miraculous one-handed touchdown: 'Probably won't hear from him again'

The New England Patriots’ game-winning touchdown against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday is can’t-miss content by one of those least likely heroes, which reminds us just how great this game can be.

But Bills cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson was quite salty after the 29-26 loss when asked about Efton Chism III's one-handed touchdown grab that put the reigning AFC champions back on track against an AFC East foe.

Sure, Chism only caught two passes from quarterback Drake Maye in the win, but his 19-yard touchdown was a sight to see after he snatched the ball with one hand out of mid-air with a defender draped all over him in the end zone for the go-ahead score.

At the time, it wasn’t the game-winner, but an interception for the Patriots on Bills' superstar quarterback Josh Allen sealed the win and gave Buffalo its first loss of the season.

After the game, Gardner-Johnson was asked about the situation, and he came off not impressed by what he saw on his home turf from Chism.

In fact, he belittled the second-year pro’s efforts.

"Probably won’t hear from him again, respectfully,’ Gardner-Johnson said. "I say that with a lot of confidence."

Gardner-Johnson even referred to Chism as an "elevated guy," insinuating that he came called up from the practice squad for Week 4. Chism has been on the 53-man roster since the Patriots’ regular-season schedule began.

"They won the game, whatever," Gardner-Johnson added. ‘They didn’t do s--t better than us. We gotta play better."

It’s natural to be upset after the game, but diminishing someone’s play and basically saying it will be the high of Chism’s career? Not so classy from the veteran secondary man.

Chism, though, wasn’t too worried about what anyone was saying after the game. He was just happy to help his Patriots get to 2-2 against a tough division opponent.

"When I am out there, and the ball’s in the air, I kind of black out," he said honestly, per Yahoo Sports. "I am kind of in that little flow state. I saw it in the air, Drake gave me that opportunity, and I just … you gotta take advantage of those opportunities, you never know when they’re gonna come."

Other than Chism’s efforts, Romeo Doubs had a breakout game in his first season with the Patriots, hauling in two touchdowns on six catches for 58 yards. Maye also got back on track, going 22-of-37 for 269 yards with his three touchdown passes, though he threw another interception which he will hope to cut down on moving forward.
