31 injured outside LA club after car rams into crowd

(NewsNation) — A car drove into a crowd in East Hollywood early Saturday morning, injuring more than 30 people, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The call came in for a crash outside a nightclub at the 4600 block of West Monica Boulevard around 2 a.m. local time. LAFD Public Information Officer Adam Van Gerpen said a driver "lost consciousness."

"Somebody lost consciousness inside the vehicle, drove into a taco cart and ultimately ran into a large number of people," Van Gerpen told AXN News at the scene.

Some people on social media who said they were there reported hearing gunshots. Van Gerpen said one patient appeared to have a gunshot wound, but it is "unconfirmed," and the investigation is ongoing.

Three are in critical condition, and six are in serious condition, LAFD said in a statement. More than 120 fire personnel were on scene.

NewsNation contacted the LAFD for comment.
